Canada Manitoba Immigration Agreement

Canada and Manitoba Sign New Immigration Agreement

On July 24th, 2020, the Government of Canada and the Government of Manitoba signed a new immigration agreement that aims to increase the number of immigrants coming to the province over the next five years. The agreement will give Manitoba greater control over its immigration policies and allow the province to tailor its programs to meet the unique needs of its economy and labour market.

The new agreement, called the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), will increase the number of skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and international students that can immigrate to Manitoba. The program targets individuals who have the skills and experience that Manitoba needs to grow its economy and create jobs.

With the new agreement, Manitoba will be able to nominate up to 5,500 immigrants per year to come to the province. This is a significant increase from the previous agreement, which allowed Manitoba to nominate only 5,000 immigrants per year. The new agreement also provides more flexibility in the way that Manitoba selects and nominates candidates, allowing the province to better respond to the changing needs of its economy.

The MPNP has been a successful program for Manitoba, helping the province attract over 130,000 immigrants since it was first introduced in 1998. The program has helped to bring diversity to Manitoba`s workforce and has helped to create thriving communities throughout the province.

Immigration is vital to Manitoba`s economy, and the new agreement will help to ensure that the province has the skilled workers and entrepreneurs that it needs to continue growing and prospering. The Government of Canada and the Government of Manitoba have shown their commitment to working together to strengthen the province`s economy and create opportunities for its residents.

If you are interested in immigrating to Manitoba, the MPNP offers a range of programs that may be right for you. Whether you are a skilled worker, entrepreneur, or international student, there may be a program that can help you make Manitoba your new home.
